How Credits Are Sold.
The Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) is a voluntary, greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions trading program targeting emissions and offsets in North and South America. The work is performed under the direction of Environmental Financial Products, LLC. KarbonEx Corp works to aggregate forestry carbon credits from international programs for sale on the Chicago Climate Exchange.
Like the concept of trading carbon credits, the CCX is relatively new. Continuous electronic trading of GHG emission allowances and offsets began on December 12, 2003. CCX reduction commitments and trading apply for years 2003 through 2010. Carbon sequestration in soil and biomass, as well as other various GHG emission reduction activities, will be recognized on the CCX through credits generated by projects that are registered and verified on the Exchange.
KarbonEx Corp registers, verifies, and aggregates the carbon credits from each client. After verification these credits are for sale on the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX). The CCX is the world's first - and North America's only - legally binding, rules-based greenhouse gas emissions allowance trading system. The CCX is the only exchange to accept carbon credits issued by forestry projects. In addition, the exchange is the world's only global system for emissions trading based on all six greenhouse gases.
